In golf, an Approach is any shot played from the fairway intending to land the ball on the green. Golfers generally use this definition of Approach to discuss how difficult or easy a course’s second or third stroke is to hit.
NBC Sports GolfPass is redefining “The Approach” with a new on-demand golf lifestyle show hosted by recording artist and golf enthusiast Macklemore, which premieres on Tuesday, June 15. With a lineup of golf-loving personalities, the show’s debut will be an open and free event. NBC GolfPass invites fans everywhere to join celebrities, tour players, and industry leaders as they celebrate the many approaches to golf and the game’s future.
The motivation behind the Approach is to change some of the perceptions about golf and showcase new and non-traditional ways golf fans can enjoy the sport. In addition, the show hopes to inspire the ever-growing population of new and diverse players who respect the golfing traditions but prefer to enjoy the game in their unique ways.

The show’s host, Macklemore, is a Grammy-Award-winning rapper whose enthusiasm for golf motivated him to launch Bogey Boys, a new golf fashion line that celebrates individuality and personal style. For Macklemore, growing the game of golf is all about accessibility, and he points to his fashions as one catalyst that can bring more people to the game.
“I’ve really come to love golf. It is important to share that passion and to make the game more accessible,” Macklemore said. “I’d love for all the people who have been existing on the fringes of the game, like me, to know they are welcome without having to fit into a one-size-fits-all box.”
The Approach will feature guest appearances from some of the biggest names in golf. Major champions like Rory McIlroy and Gary Woodland will participate – including NBA superstar Stephen Curry. Additionally, titans of business, TV personalities, social media influencers, and other celebrities will stop by, sharing and demonstrating their passion for golf.
